Uniting Through Music: Oliver Anthony reads Psalm 37 before performing his hit 'Rich Men North of Richmond'

There's power in anointed music to bring healing and unity to communities. Internet sensation Oliver Anthony shared a verse from the bible with his new fans before performing his hit song at his latest show.

Just days after his soulful blue-collar anthem went viral last week, Anthony has found himself at number one on the iTunes country chart.

The singer, who lives in Farmville, proved to be popular with millions of people after 'Rich Men North of Richmond' was posted online.

In his first public appearance since the video went viral, he read a message he felt 'compelled' to share from Psalm 37.

The wicked plot against the righteous,' he said. 'And gnash their teeth at them but the lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.

'The wicked draw the sword and bend the bows, to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose way is upright.

'Their sword shall enter their own hearts, and their bows shall be broken.'

Hundreds of people had turned out to watch him play, with many cheering as he finished.

Earlier, he spoke about his success, sharing: 'It's crazy to me, because I remember back in June I played for about 20 people but that's the beautiful part of this country though, even an idiot like me can make something happen,' he told the crowd as he took the stage.

'If I can do it, you can do it.'
