Bronx Movie Theater Shuts Down After 30 Years, Leaving Local Children Disheartened

On Tuesday, the South Bronx’s Concourse Plaza Multiplex Cinemas showed its final movie, closing its doors after more than three decades of operation. This cinema was one of only two in the Bronx, which is home to approximately 1.44 million residents. Now, there is just one remaining movie theater serving the entire borough.

“It has been our pleasure to serve the Bronx community with great movie-going for many years,” the theater, part of the Showcase Cinemas chain which operates 19 locations across four states, shared on Facebook. “Due to a business decision, May 28, 2024, will be our last day of cinema operations. We thank you for your patronage and hope you have made wonderful movie memories at our cinema.”
