Couple Celebrates the Arrival of 'Exceptionally Rare' Identical Quadruplets: 'Hearing Their Tiny Cries Brought Relief'

Mercedes Sandhu received an extraordinary early Mother’s Day gift on May 1 — the birth of four healthy, identical baby girls!

“It was a tremendous relief to hear their little cries,” Sandhu shared with PEOPLE. “Just knowing they had arrived safely brought so much peace.”

Born at 29 weeks and three days, Hannah Grace, Lucy Marie, Rebecca Claire, and Petra Anne are making strong progress in the NICU at Texas Children’s Hospital. The Houston couple, Mercedes, 34, and her husband Jonathan, 37, are thrilled by their daughters' resilience.

Their doctor, maternal-fetal medicine specialist Dr. Manisha Gandhi, describes the quadruplets as statistical marvels.
